All About Milk

Milk, one of the most nutritious beverages that you and your family can enjoy, makes a major nutrient contribution to children's diets. In addition to calcium, it provides eight other essential nutrients. Over 70 percent of the calcium in our food supply comes from milk and dairy foods. Without milk on the menu, it's unlikely that kids will meet their daily calcium needs.

Why Milk?
Studies show that milk is a marker for good nutrition among children. Children who drink milk have higher intakes of specific nutrients and are better nourished than children who don't. Milk and Milk Group foods, like cheese and yogurt, are among the 2005 Dietary Guidelines "foods to encourage," along with fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Flavored Milk
