Are your students eating enough low–fat and fat–free dairy, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and getting 60 minutes of exercise every day?
National Dairy Council®, your local Dairy Council® and the National Football League® have teamed up to create a FREE School Wellness Activation Kit for the 2008–09 school year. The wellness tools in the kit are designed to help schools make positive changes in student eating and exercise habits and further their commitment to school wellness goals.
Kit Spreads the Word All Through the School
For use throughout the school, the Wellness Activation Kit is based on the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans' Food Groups to Encourage and an easy–to–follow "Play 60" message. Each school will receive one kit, which will be sent to the principal's attention in the fall. The kit includes:
- Colorful signage for a variety if school locations, such as the school entrance, classroom doors and the gym, to keep "healthy eating" and "moving more" messages front–and–center throughout the year
- Tips and resources for including an exciting, new FREE school program, Game On! The Ultimate Wellness Challenge, developed by Action for Healthy Kids, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
Online Tools
In addition to the kit, there will be valuable online components including:
- Student Wellness Pledge to eat healthy and be physically active
- Monthly emails with tips, announcements, and success stories
- Tools for schools including downloadable clip art, program logos, PA announcements and sticker art
