Expanding Breakfast Online Course Putting the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA) into action in your district just got easier with the series of nine fact sheets being developed by USDA Team Nutrition. They are specifically designed for school nutrition professionals to use to support offering healthier school meals.

The first in the series is Fact Sheet: Use Low–fat Milk, Cheese, and Yogurt for healthier school meals [PDF]. Filled with reader–friendly key issues, tips for getting more milk and Milk Group Foods to children, and student messages, this fact sheet is sure to provide excellent avenues to increase dairy consumption in your program. This is especially important as the Milk Group is called out by the DGA as one of the "Food Groups to Encourage," along with fruits and vegetables and whole grains. Milk supplies three of the five nutrients the DGA indentifies as low in children's diets: calcium, magnesium and potassium. Download the Fact Sheet now [PDF]!

Along with this fact sheet, eight other fact sheets will be available at USDA's Team Nutrition Web site. New ones are being added frequently, so check back often.
